Temperature
Keep cakes away from direct sunlight, heat, and moisture. Cakes should be stored in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
Transportation
When transporting a cake, keep it in a cool environment and place the cake box on a flat, sturdy surface—never on a seat. Drive carefully and avoid sudden stops, sharp turns, or quick acceleration.
Storage
If the cake is not being served immediately, store it in the refrigerator. Leftover cake may be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one (1) week.
The maximum shelf life we can provide is:
Serving
For best flavor and texture, cakes should be brought to room temperature a few hours prior to serving.
Cutting
Use a sharp knife and a cutting board. Warming the knife with hot water between cuts may help achieve clean slices. Tiered cakes contain internal support dowels or straws, which must be removed before slicing.
Display
If displaying a cake, ensure the table is level and sturdy. The cake stand must be strong enough to safely support the weight of the cake.
Protecting Decorations
Sugar decorations are delicate and should be handled as little as possible to prevent damage.
Freezing
To freeze a cake, first refrigerate it completely. Then wrap the cake or cake box tightly in plastic wrap or place it in an airtight container before freezing.
Important Notes
Orders picked up prior to the event date require immediate refrigeration unless otherwise instructed by Her Elegant Design Cottage Bakery. Cakes left at room temperature for extended periods—especially outdoors or in Arizona heat—may experience structural weakening and a decline in quality and stability.
